Anyone else venture to mix dime-store and dreadful?
I have always been a fan of this genre, especially in its broader definitions.
Anyone else writing a gothic romance, or at least thinks so at this point?

Well, I'm still in the whole deciding/discovering a plot phase, but I think that mine might have a ... sort of ... romance. Not too sure as of yet, although I finally got somewhere with my planning during class today.

I can't seem to write anything these days that doesn't have romance in it, lol. Though it'll be fantasy romance. I'm thinking something along the lines of a mage who falls in love with a disfigured faerie.

I haven't quite worked out all of the kinks yet, but I'm planning to incorporate romance into the novel. Not that I particularly want to, but whenever I try to do a little planning my MC appears in my head and demands that I pair him up with his cross-dressing roommate. I do have a feeling that if I attempt to do so that it'll turn out to be more about lust and less about love. Hmm.

One of my favorite elements of gothic literature is its disparity from mainstream romance. I couldn't imagine writing a gothic piece without romance. I would venture to say lust plays a large part of this sub-genre. I favor it most of all for the visceral nature of an authentic gothic romance to be able to explore the darkest areas of the human psyche.

Mine's going to have romance, I think. I still need to think it through and try to figure out how or if it'll work...but everything I write seems to end up romance or at least have a big chunk of it in there.

There's definitely a love-interest for my female MC. How much I let myself go writing the romantic parts remains to be seen, though.

Mine's gonna have romance! ...I think. I haven't exactly worked out a PLOT yet, so... But I'm pretty sure there'll be some romance.

I can't help but have super uber extreme amounts of romance in all of my stories (whether I want it there or not). So there will most definitely be romance in this one. I know this, even though I haven't planned the story yet.

Mine'll have romance, seeing as it's essentially an exploration of two people, a couple, but not in a traditional way, I don't think. I do want them to be realistic people, after all.

My suspicions have been confirmed! Mine shall be muchos romance-y. Because... I've just realized that mine sounds like the gay, Gothic version of Beauty and the Beast...
Guhh... Crap.

Lain, that sounds awesome!
Mine is going to have an uncharacteristically unhappy romance T_T

Haaa. Well, I'm hoping that it actually turns out well. At this point, all I can picture is Disney and singing. No me gusta Disney. Edit: Katica, yours will be unhappy? Aww.

Disney is okay (although I'm sick of all these half-assed cartoon sequels -- Cinderella 2? Little Mermaid 2? Can anyone say greedy SOBs?) Anyway, I had a point ... Oh, right -- the original fairy tales are awesome and a bit gothic, dark and gory. Maybe you can find some of them and get the dancing flatware out of your head, lol.
Not horribly everyone-dies-at-the-end unhappy, but the usual fluff and romance. I need to stretch my writing legs a bit.
