Ooooh. Does the caretaker go crazy and chop up his wife with an axe? Or beat her to bits with a roque mallet? If you couldn't tell, I LOVE THE SHINING. Me too, if you'll believe it, lol. I'm actually working in a few similar elements from that book; my characters are snowbound and one of them will have a brief episode with a mallet of some sort... (don't think I can really work a roque court into my setting, *sigh*) I believe it. >:3 Oh god, Stephen King...if he weren't taken by a total prude, I'd so shag his bones. I may be a lesbian, but there are some men that just OOOOOH GOD I WANT THEM! And yes, I declared myself lesbian after the only man I ever loved betrayed me. >:[

Mine definitely will have romance, but I'm not sure if it's true gothic lit. There is a damsel in distress, and a somewhat haunted building, lots of mystery, hmm... Mine's about a hemophiliac girl who falls in love with a gypsy man who's living in an abandoned stone masion. But there's something strange about the young Romany...:ninja:

I'm doing a gothic romance this year! I'm still working on getting the plot better defined and everything, and also the characters and all, but it'll definitely be a gothic romance! ^_^

i'm pretty sure mine gets to be gothic romance. not that i've ever actually read any gothic romance, but that's never stopped me before. i think i have all the elements: frail heroine, dark and brooding male/love interest to be, half ruined castle, ancient legends, strange happenings in the vicinity of said castle, decaying spell books, and a healthy dose of slipping into the castle to, er, indulge in the physical elements of love. -grins-

Well my story is sure to have romances... and vampires... and a bunch of other stuff.
I am still trying to figure out the romance part of the story... right now I have a love triangle (well... more star shape) with a guy and 3 girls... Mostly the girls together and the guy who is really charming just try to find his place in this crazy situation... Oh and the guy is the servant of the vampire.

Awesome! (I loveses Renfield. ) Of course, that begs the question, is he really romancing them, or just trying to bring them to his master?

Which can be a fantastic source for conflict! Oh goody!! That sounds really exciting...hence the over exclamation marked comments.

Well the vampire is one of the girl actually....
But yeah thinking about it making him in the weird situation of bringing the heroine to his master AND having a crush on both his master and the new girl can be very interesting.

My FMC and MMC are indeed romantically involved, but the focus is not on their relationship - they have a very stable relationship and the only times they are not involved romantically are in flashbacks. The ending, though...sad.
I probably gave away the ending, damnit.
