Same here. I'm hating those sequels. But good idea... I think I will look up the originals to get a good feel for it. Ah, well good luck with that. I think I already asked you this, but are you going to post that on LJ? *drools greedily*

Ha, I wish I could write romance... I guess I'm just not a very romantic person in real life or fiction. ^^;

I'm not romantic in real life at all. (If people touch me, I get angry. If people say sweet things, I laugh.) You could take advantage of that and explore it through your writing. That's the good thing about writing. You can write whatever you want, you - as the narrator - can be whatever you want. You're GOD! xD

Gay and gothic Beauty and the Beast? That DOES sound like a must read. Now that I've actually done a little planning I've decided that the romance in my story will be mostly one-sided and more lust than love.

Oh, baby. One-sided lusting, eh?

My plot is still very iffy, but my MC has a wife, so that would count as some romance x]
They have some issues though... he isn't the most normal guy. "/ Then again, she isn't the best wife, really.
And considering my other characters involve a two year old, a six year old, and a caretaker guy, there isn't any other romance involved. xD

Holy crap. I really need to work on reading things carefully...
I read this as "Then again, he beats his wife, really."

Although the one-sided luster in question has a somewhat distorted view of himself and thinks his feelings are perfectly pure and the object of his affection just doesn't know what love is. Fun stuff.

I'm still deciding some things, but my main character has a fling, so I guess that kind of counts as romance.

I always laugh at the words romance and Romance, because I've already told you that I am writing a very moody, melancholy piece with the characteristics of a Romance (like Frankenstein). So, yes, while there is romance in my novel (Jezebel and Alex FTW), it is actually a Romance, as moods and nature and natrual occurences play a large role in the novel. (ie: Opening scene, Marianne describes the snow as a reflection of her frozen heart)
Aw, language, what strangeness it brings...

I'm actually working in a few similar elements from that book; my characters are snowbound and one of them will have a brief episode with a mallet of some sort... (don't think I can really work a roque court into my setting, *sigh*)
