In this thread, dish on what is keeping you from getting on task with your daily word count. Personally, real life obligations have taken a toll on my word count for today. I had an interview and my friends actually want to SPEND TIME with me. What kind of silliness is this? Don't they know it's Gothno? Oh, of course I'll have all night to chug away, but even so! Why just be average when you can get ahead? Tomorrow there is a going-away party for a friend, from noon until who knows when. I hope I don't fall behind D:

Planning for nano is distracting me from this. And music worth obsessing over that totally doesn't match the flow of the story.

with me it is the constantly wandering aways with my thoughts. i sometimes won't be focused on the thing I'm writing with.

It's this fantasy novel... the characters from it keep beating down my door, while I'm trying to write dark! They're so bothersome...

I'm not into it yet. I know I have this show on Sunday and need to get more jewelry made for it. I need some mood music.

My own personal demons, really... I mean about what I'm writing about. Like, I don't want the story to go too deep, and I've been putting off fleshing out a real outline to make sure I have some story in the middle. Every time I decide to write something else, this story begs me to plan it, but before I am able to plan it in detail, I decide that the story is too jumbled and doesn't make sense and is too painful. Gah!!!
You know, while my crazy brain is deciding this... I think I'm going to start this other small idea I had about asian ghost/horror stories. It can't hurt. I mean it can take away from my wordcount goal if I do write the other one, but oh well... either I finally decide on the other one and work like mad, or I stick with these smaller asian horror stories. Either way's good for me.
Why, oh why do I have to complicate things so much!!??!!!

During the entire planning of my story, I didn't get distracted by any other idea but today, it seems harder. I constantly have to stem against the usual, constant inflow of story ideas. That is actually a huge part of why I have never been able to really finish anything! It's a blessing and a curse, I suppose.
However, my boyfriend is being really encouraging and is thoroughly enjoying my story, so I have no desire to stop, but just fight the urge to write other things.
I think that I'm going to start a file where I write down the quick snippet of the ideas, and the mood/theme so it's there after gothno and nano and not pestering me, distracting me from my current project. Hm....

work... no not exactly... more the whole situation at work... Economy have took it's tool on the compagny where I work and everybody is really tense... Add to that that right now I have no real work to do only training and that I feel useless and unfocused and it become easy to understand that even if I have plenty of time on my hands at work I am in no mood to use it for my novel... :S Sad, really... if it was not of all that I would have done what I did last year for Nano, work like mad for 2hrs, write 2 hrs while no one is looking, pile an other 2hrs of crazy work and give myself an other 2hrs of writing on work hours I have no shame since I was doing the work of 2 peoples even if I was writing half the time.

My cousin from Germany and her friend are visiting. They came on the first day of October. I love having them here, but it really kills my writing time.

I love procrastinating :] so twitter, this forum, and chatting are my biggest distraction. Lol. And actually I have never written goth before so I think I lost my muse and my story goes nowhere dull

School and sh** keeps happening to my roommate. Last week she fell off a 40-foot rope swing, this week her friends took her car and totalled it while they were on xanax... it seems like the same people have the worst stuff happen to them over and over.

Literally, what keeps stopping my writing is my kitten. He keeps bugging me for attention when I'm trying to write. And sitting on my keyboard. XD
But really, it's school. I wasn't expecting this semester to keep me so ridiculously busy. Last year, between NaNo and whatnot, I did waaaaaaaaay more writing during school hours than I did schoolwork. This semester's insane, though. I was barely keeping up with my deadlines even before GothNo started. >_>

Stopping me, at least yesterday, was my hectic schedule. I was in class solidly from 8:30 to 3, then I went straight to an amusement park where they set the whole thing up as a haunted craziness. Unfortunately, while there, I ate a funnel cake, which the park now makes with milk. So I was sick for the entire rest of the evening (luckily, most of that was back at the dorms, not in the park itself). ' And today, it's chores. I'm back in the dorms and no classes today, so I need to wash the giant pile of dishes and do some laundry before it goes on the attack.
