I've got a story that's been brewing in the back of my head for a few years that incorporates gothic elements, but I'd argue the core genre is steampunk. If that's too far out, I can put together another story idea (I have enough small ideas that picking a different one won't be too hard). I can also write a series of short stories or vignettes as well (I saw another question that that was okay). I haven't written a lot of gothic literature, but I love to read it, so it's about time I gave it a hand.

Best of luck. I know Gothic Lit is supposed to be set in Gothic settings. But I seriously think it's all about the atmosphere. Crypts, cobwebs and candles. And the like.

Thanks! I'm definitely aiming for the gothic atmosphere, so it should work. I'll keep playing with it for a few more days and see what I decide on Oct 1st then.

Hi! We're pretty flexible here. I think the main element is usually the spookiness. We do have sub genres for things that aren't strictly gothic lit, but still spooky... could even be comedy, or fantasy type... if you think it counts then I'd say go for it! And I love steampunk. Still a bit new to the genre... but I love what I know of it, anyway!
