I noticed there are five different categories of Gothic genres given. It might be a good thing if some one might post a list of books that fit the description of the different Gothic genres.

When I was young (long, long ago) the Gothic romance genre was so popular that there would be a whole shelf of gothics in every bookstore. I didn't read many but I remember one called Mistress of Mellyn, I think by Victoria Holt. It was a good story with gothic elements, but a lot lighter than say Frankenstein or Dracula.
Of course now the market for the Gothic romance has died, but hopefully it will be rising from the dead.

I read Frankenstein by the original author(sadly I forgot her name). Also Allen poe stories such as the house of usher.(is that a good one? not so sure)
I must agree sadly the gothic romance has been dying
