Gothnowrimo is a month away and I'm terribly excited. I can't decide what novels to read this month to prepare and keep up the excitement.

There are a lot of gothic books to choose from. Mexican Gothic is a good one. It has some really gross parts, so it's not good if you don't like that, but it has a good story. I've heard The Thirteenth Tale is good, but haven't read that one yet.

Ooh I haven't read Mexican Gothic! Maybe I should look into that. I've just started reading The Mammoth Book of Halloween Stories: Terrifying Tales Set on the Scariest Night of the Year! It's helping me to get into the spooky mood, for sure

Mexican Gothic is on my TBR list. Maybe I should bump it up! And The Mammoth Book of Halloween Stories: Terrifying Tales Set on the Scariest Night of the Year sounds fascinating!

It's helping me to get into the spooky mood, for sure I'm more into subtle chills than full-on horror. I'm a Jane Eyre or Wuthering Heights type of person. Nothing too gross for me.

I feel like this is where gothic is such an awesome genre. It covers a spectrum and works well with other genres. You can add just a little gothic-ness to get that spooky feel and wa-la. A softer gothic fiction story. Or you can go wild and go dark gothic horror. So gothic romance. Its such a great genre.
