Hey everyone. Prompted by my seeming inability to move any further in my story right now, I was wondering what my fellow GothNoWriMoers do when they either know what's going to happen but can't seem to move past the current scene and get there or just can't get thoughts on the page, no matter what. Music? Take a break and come back? Force out word after word til it flows? I think I'm off to shower and mull over it... See you- -Ivyflight

Well, for me i either listen to music or take walks outside and around the block of my home. To think about what to do to continue writing both of my novels for Gothno. Or when i am in town i listen to music while walking around a lake which is actually peaceful and fun to walk around. Because it gives me ideas on what to work with in any of my two novels. Sometimes when i do take a shower the scenes come to me after thinking about both of my novels. Which gets me to continue to write both my novels to continue on from there which works well for me so far.

Honestly, I just skip past the bit I'm having a trouble with and write whatever will come after that, if I know. Of course, I guess that's what gets me into trouble, and for gothno, I've been forcing things out more, after taking a quick break.

If I don't know how to resolve a current issue, but I do have an idea for something else that is supposed to happen, I stop worrying about the part I'm stuck on and start working on the section I know I need to write later on. I have found that this takes the pressure off and usually what happens is I suddenly have an epiphany and figure out the thing I was having trouble with. Usually there is some piece of information that has to come to light from one of my characters and I need to let them do something further on down the road so they can clue me in and then I know what to do.

Usually I just try to plow through anyway and use the opportunity to have my character do mundane things like eat, , sleep, take showers, take walks, and interact on a mundane basis with other people: small talk and the like, and it helps to know that I don't need a perfect draft the first time I write the story. I also find that taking walks is really good for getting the juices flowing or watching paranormal shows on tv.

Usually for me now i do writing exercises while listening to music or watching movies to write while hoping to not get stuck on scenes, parts or anything else in my novels.

I just pulled out The Dark Grimoire Tarot and dealt a hand of cards for myself. I'm laying them out and just typing what comes to me know that fits in with my short story idea.

I usually skip the bit that feels stuck and move onto the next piece of writing that I feel excited about. Chances are you'll be able to write backwards from there - by that I mean you can figure out what happened BEFORE that scene and then the one before that and keep working backwards till you meet up with where you got stuck.

I go to the bathroom sometimes. I get really good ideas on the throne lol. Other times I just skip to some other scene or just write something the totally has nothing to do with my novel, yet eventually I get it to work in.

I either skip and work ahead- writing random scenes that I weave in later, or take a break. I come up with a lot of ideas in dreams, and when I am working on a project I usually get up in the middle of the night to write things down all bleary eyed. Good thing I do, coz in the morning I don't remember it. I wrote most of my first novel when I was an over the road truckdriver- writing down things when I stopped. Driving really clears the cobwebs out of your brain...
