I'm going to try for 500 words Monday-Friday. I'm working on a bigger piece of fiction, and it's gothic inspired (in a way), so I figured registering here will help keep me on track for the month of October! My goal is 11k, which is an extra 500 words tacked on to the end of the 21 days that are Monday-Fridays. If I go over, great, but the real goal is to just keep on a 500 word day track.

Welcome canardly! I've added you to the list. That's a great way to help motivate yourself to keep on track. I wish you all the very best with your goal.

Thank you! I've been doing well, up to 14% at this point, which is nice to see. It's so great watching the bar fill up as you update your word count. My story is taking shape as well. It still needs a bit of outlining (which I'll do this weekend), but I'm sure it'll be right on track next week.

Currently at 20% now. I know I set my goal for just writing Monday-Friday, but I'm liking my story so much it's tempting me to work on it this weekend. I'm unsure whether I'll be competing in NaNo next month, maybe I should work on an outline for a new story instead. Decisions, decisions.
Edit: As of today (10.10.11) I've reached the 54% mark, with 6,012 words. It's not a ton of words, but it's 6k towards the first novella in the set of two I'm writing. I'm aiming at 25k per novella, so I guess you can consider the 6k about a quarter of the way through.

Looks like I've done it, the hat trick, the triple post! Sorry for bogging down the Black Widows thread, but there's only three of us this year, so I figured I'd post my updates in here rather than make a new thread for myself.
Well I started today at 6012 words, which was 54%. I ended at 9263 words which put me up at 84%, for a total word gain of 3251 words today. I'm impressed! I had been building up this writing tension since Tuesday, so I had to catch up three days of writing. I know my goal is only 500 words a day, Monday-Friday, but I really couldn't stop myself. The words just flowed, and who am I to tell my fingers to stop. My characters were running away with the story!
Either way, I'm all caught up now, and then some! I'm looking forward to hitting it hard this weekend, and hopefully winning that certificate!

Hey, well done Canardly! I'm impressed too. There's few things more wonderful than having a words just flow. You're well on your way to winning the certificate. Are you still thinking of doing NaNo?

Thanks! Sorry for the delayed response, I've been super busy this week, and haven't been able to write at all! I'll hopefully be catching up for the week, this weekend, if I can make some time. I am still thinking of doing Nano actually. I've got about 30% of the outline finished, but a general outline has been completed in case I can't get back to the indepth outline before Nov. 1st. Are you participating? If so, what genre are you going to be participating in? Mine's somewhere between Young Adult and Science Fiction, possibly a Young Adult Science Fiction novel, haha.

No, I won't be doing NaNo this year - I just don't have enough hours in the day, unfortunately. Fair play to you for managing to work on your outlines too. Writing during GothNo and pre-planning NaNo at the same time is an achievement.

Well, I'm so proud to be able to say I've done it, I've won Gothnowrimo. It's my first time winning this competition, and I couldn't be happier right now. I know I didn't have a huge word goal, but with everything I've had going on this month (shooting two weddings for my photography company, school, full time day job, and trying to spend some time working on various other projects) I think I hit the nail right on the head with the expected output. I'm currently at 101% and will continue to work on my story as the days pass on.
I'm going to give Nanowrimo a go, I'm "Canardly" on their as well, if anyone wants to keep in touch!
For now, I've got to get going. I'll still be checking in here from time to time, and I'll definitely be back here this time next year. Also, I'm planning on participating in the first Histonowrimo come January, so I'll see some of you then too!
See ya! -Canardly

Hi Canardly, Congrats on making your goal! See you on NaNo. I added you to my buddy list. Do you know what type of story you'll be doing?
