I've already read all the Gothic Lit we own, so unless my mother buys us a copy of The Witching Hour or somesuch.
Anne Rice DOES count, right?

I would think so. I think The Witching Hour counts. It's an awesome book... though I don't think I read the end yet. I lost it in the move and I've yet to find it.

One thing though---Many Books is a pirate site. The authors get no royalties from it.
I know---I'm an author, and my groups have warned me to look there for my book. I haven't found it yet, but when I do I'm raising hell.
Hmm. It appears enough authors have raised a stink. I can't get to it.

Crumbs, I didn't realise it was a pirate site. I thought that it was linked to Project Gutenberg which makes books in the public domain available online. Any of the books I've come across or gone looking for were always quite old - early twentieth century at the least, usually older. But you're right, the site appears to be down.

I'd recommend the Wraeththu series... the style is very elaborate and gothic, and it's an amazing read.
Excerpt plz:
Silence settled around them like dust. They were both staring at the floor deep in thought and then their heads rose like snakes, their eyes met. "I don't like this room," Cal said, rubbing his arms. "It is cold." Cobweb tried to stand and faltered, his body trembling, shivering, his breath misting. Cal lifted him up, trying to gather, control, the sprawling, shuddering limbs. Cobweb appeared to have sunk into a trance. His head lolled over Cal's arm; his eyes were open, but blank. Cal held him reverently, gazing with undisguised tenderness into his empty face. They did not know they were being watched."
