I’ve been looking forward to GothNoWriMo all year! I’m really excited to start this story and I’ve saved it for this event. It doesn’t have a title yet, I’m currently referring to it as Project Beacon. It has a spooky lighthouse, handsome sailors, and mysterious sea legends!
My goal is to write about 750 words a day. I was a little shy of that goal last night, but I’m setting back into a routine so I think it’s still a pretty good start. I’m really looking forward to progressing this story, but my planning was minimal so I have a lot of discovery writing to do!

Today I’m supposed to be 3k based on my dialysis goals, while I think I’m just a little over 1k. I plan on using my Sunday to get caught up on the spooky lighthouse. Hopefully I’ll have some time left over catch up on a few Writetober challenges I’m doing on Instagram and Twitter, too.

I'm realizing I definitely did not do as much planning for this story as I thought. I'm having a little trouble getting things moving with it. I think I'm going to take a short break from trying to throw words at it and do a little bit more outlining and character development. I currently have about 2k words, but I should be at 4.5 if I stick to the 750 per day goal. It's not an insurmountable deficit by any means, but as I get things straightened out it might grow.

Wow, spooky lighthouses, handsome sailors, mysterious sea legends...I have to say that sounds intriguing! I would definitely read something like that! I hope you're having luck with the writing! We should play some word games or something in Vincent's lounge to get the ideas flowing... (unless people are already doing that and I'm the last! I'm a bit late to the party this year but I plan for it to be a spooky good party)

Well, I’m afraid my month of spooky writing is becoming a bit of a failure. I’m incredibly behind on my project here, and also behind on the writing challenges I’ve been doing on Instagram and Twitter. I’ve completely lost my way in the lighthouse story because, as usual, I didn’t plan enough. I’m going to spend most of my day outlining and brainstorming to try to get somewhat back on track.
It doesn’t help that I have somehow found myself with plans every single Saturday this month, so i’ve lost a lot of valuable writing time. I did buy a nice new keyboard case for my iPad, so i can use it more like a laptop. I’m hoping this will help me settle down and get into the zone in the evenings.

If you can't do 750 make it 500. I find listening to inspirational music definitely helps me to get in the zone. I also put together a Pinterest board on the subject. I went to Canva and designed a cover. It all helps.

Don't give up!! Maybe lower your writing goal, but don't stop....!! Sometimes you have to just write some whack nonsense to get the ideas flowing, and soon enough more story will come... I find when I have the most troubles is when I'm being too perfectionistic about things. If you dig up a whole bunch of random stuff from your brain and keep writing, you don't have to keep it all in the end, but you might find some precious jewels in there! (note to self - take own advice) xD

Thank you both for the encouragement! I’m limping along, I’m doing less that 750 per day but some is better than nothing! I’ve also started writing out of order again, and old habit I’d thought I’d finally broken, But it’s working out and I’m starting to get more into the story now. I don’t have much of the month left but I’ll have something to work with when I’m ready to revisit it.

I'm on a sort of roll now, if you see my updates. But as I close to the finish, the distractions are colossal. I have left so many projects at the 22k word count. I've made a resolution to go back and finish them all. I think it's great that you have been doing 750 words per day. It's great to have the discipline to keep going when you just can't get into it. Keep it up, keep it up, keep it up.

Well, October ended as quite a disaster in regard to my writing goals. I didn’t keep up with the writing challenges on Instagram and Twitter, and the little bit I wrote for my GothNo project is a bit of a mess. I just didn’t put enough effort into planning so I didn’t have something to guide me when it became such a struggle to put one word after another.
So now I move on to NaNoWriMo! I think I’m better prepared for this one so hopefully my 12th win is in the bag. Good luck with the rest of your writing this year, everyone!

I'm sure the writing you did will serve you well in the future. What's your name on NaNo?
