*chants and resurrects this thread* So, what spooky songs are you listening to for your Gothno? Am I the only one who finds old crackly records to be creepy? And just the perfect music to write to for something like my Gothno story. I'm currently listening to Abacus radio that plays old Jazz. Tis <3 though I've heard creepier record sounding songs.

When I write, I like to find specific songs that reflect the mood I'm going for in the book, because I'm greatly affected mood-wise by music. So I give each of my books certain playlists :3
For this novel, I've got this playlist going on, with the main two songs being the first two:
The Fireside by Yo La Tengo Standing Outside A Broken Phone Booth by Primitive Radio Gods Angel by Fridge vs. The Hitmen Emo Emo by Santa Maffy Don't Stop by ATB Side By Side (Instrumental) by The Hitmen Like I Love You by The Hitmen Sleeping In by Postal Service Island In The Sun by Weezer Something About Us by Daft Punk Digital Love by Daft Punk Honeybee by Steam Powered Giraffe Sound Of My Dream by DJ Melodie Wherever You Are (Remix) by DJ Melodie Morning Grace by Ritsuko Okazaki

I will probably be making some Pandora radio stations this year. Or looking for some playlists on spotify. Anyone else use these (or other kinds of) services? I might also make some playlists on youtube, but that takes a lot of work.... xD

I have a GothNoWriMo spotify station, if anyone is interested! I think it's searchable. It's just called GothNoWriMo. It's mostly classical music, perfect for a dark and stormy night.

Hmmm.... I will have to double check that it's public and searchable. I'll check when I get home from work today.

Well, I double checked that the spotify playlist is public. I'm not sure why it isn't coming up in search results... Apparently spotify lets you link to playlists, though, so here it is:

So I discovered this song on spotify last month and have been playing it constantly. It reminded me of a creepy orphanage in Russia or something. So I looked it up - it is a pretty creepy lullaby indeed! Check out this article: Tili Tili BomSo maybe this will inspire someone's writing!? Or at least be a lovely and creepy background to it. It's already giving me some ideas... Here's the youtube video:

I've been using spotify a lot. Also the site every noise to discover more genres of music. It's amazing!! I've rediscovered neoclassical darkwave... also did you know dungeon synth and folktronica is a thing?? I'm thinking of looking up the Coraline soundtrack because I remember that sounding really haunting and beautiful... I don't even have my whole story fleshed out yet but I'm thinking the music will inspire me.
